This is a pretty heavy departure from the previous tone, and therefore some fans may renounce this, however I personally get a huge kick out of a lot of these songs. Meanwhile, here on Humanz, electronic beats and drum machines are front and centre, from the club-inspired Strobelite to the bopping and mysterious She's My Collar. Plastic Beach used electronic tones commonly, however it was in a much more restrained way and was never really the centrepiece of the song. To start with, musically this album has a much more electronic focus than past Gorillaz albums.

I'm writing this to say that's pure and utter bollocks, and that Humanz is this band's most underrated work, ever. And, most of all, I remember the hype train absolutely derailing into a fiery mess as people denounced the album as the worst the band have ever made. I did, however, partake in some of the rampant speculation that took place before the release, and I remember being there to see not only the demo for Saturnz Barz get leaked thanks to a Gorillaz PR team member putting it on vimeo with the password of "2016", but also the random leak of Busted and Blue - the entire song - about a month before the album was even announced. I remember the Friday school day before I could get home and listen to the thing for the first time being an agonising wait, and I wasn't even to download the infamous "Spirit House" leak which essentially revealed the entire album before it even got released. Going back, I think Humanz is one of the first albums I can actually remember being excited for and being hyped to listen to.
